Storms generally move from west to east and it’s no different in this season’s fashion arena. The IBT (Itty Bitty Tank) storm that flooded Nappy Model Inc. earlier this summer reigned at the Atlanta Apparel market in August with accessory clouds blowing sprays of color while drenching the runway. The fashion radar had indicated that IBT’s would burst on the ATL scene and models proved the forecast to be accurate. They were showered with tanks of intense colors designed by Judy P Apparel combined with jewelry, hats, and purses showcased by Emerging Designers.
Lightning struck more than once in the same place with a jewelry line by Amy Carlino of My Amy Lou. Angela Kang of Queen Kang kept raindrops falling on their heads with her stylish veiled headwear. Under the umbrella of eco-friendly materials stood elegant designs by Vella Mode and models managed to weather the IBT storm by strapping on custom leather handbags by Naomi Lingle of Zee Designs.

Fall 2013 fashion trends will be incorporating all of our bold and beautiful favorites this upcoming season. Clothing designers like Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs are utilizing fabulous color blocking techniques while still bringing us our beloved animal prints. But, no matter what the fabric or clothing style, it seems like bold and beautiful embellishments will dominate accessories this fall season. Embellishments can be seen on clothing, handbags, and shoes; the more bling the better. Retailers would be wise to pick up on this trend in fashion and accessories. Sequins are not just for formal wear anymore!
Bold and beautiful looks can be found in contemporary and vintage jewelry. Statement pieces can make any outfit stand out, and retailers can create a truly one-of-a-kind feel in their shops by choosing more unique, stand out pieces of jewelry. Beautiful vintage lockets and cameos will be right at home over an oversize coat this upcoming Fall season, and they look just as great with a classic waffle T-shirt and jeans. The bib style necklace that we saw a lot ofthis past season is still a hot item, and really the more unique and fabulous it is the better! Beautiful smoky grays, basic blacks, rich emeralds, popping purples, and anything silver are some personal favorites to utilize in my designs this fall.
Retailers can also reach out to designers who hand-make their own jewelry designs for their bold and beautiful accessories this fall season. For example, as owner and designer of Apricot’s Jewels, I am able to consult one-on-one with retail clients to create one-of-a-kind bold and beautiful looks for their customers. Customized orders are especially useful for shops specializing in formal apparel such as wedding and prom fashions. This will create a unique niche for the retail shop owner and the customer as well. Customers gravitate to an item that has a personalized feel to it which is a definite benefit that comes with the hand-made, bold and beautiful jewelry pieces we will see this Fall 2013!
