I am excited to be presenting not one but two seminars for the Atlanta Fall Gift & Home Furnishings Market℠ and The Atlanta Gourmet Market® starting this morning with Market Your Shop.
Each January most retailers strategize how to make the upcoming year a success, while continuing to conduct day-to-day business such as setting up for Valentine’s Day and the spring holidays. Since you are shopping for spring product at this market, think about the social media tools you are currently using to market your product for these holidays and throughout the year. Each year, new marketing trends arise, and you should try to stay current and use all the tools available. For instance, if you wrote a marketing plan at the beginning of 2011, the odds are that Pinterest wasn’t part of it. But, by the end of 2011 it needed to be an integral part of your marketing efforts.
Are you using Facebook and Pinterest? Be sure and come up with a calendar for potential posts and pins. Since you’re shopping the Mart, you know what you’ve ordered and you can post and/or pin all of the new things you’ve purchased. Remember, one of the most important things about Facebook is that it should be used as a space to have a “conversation” between you and your customer. So if you’re at the Mart and you post some new items, ask your followers “what’s your favorite new item?” You know the saying, “a picture is worth a thousand words”? Be sure to pin/post pictures of new offerings and post the new things in your shop on Facebook too. Your customers will love to see what’s new! – Helen Taffet
