Chip Wade Showcases Area Rug-Inspired Designs

HGTV Craftsman and Designer Chip Wade helped designers and retailers attending the July 2011 edition of The Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market and the Atlanta International Area Rug Market gain fresh new perspective on using area rugs to inspire great designs and improve retail bottom lines.

The world’s largest collection of area rugs played a starring role at Market and in Wade’s presentation to a large audience looking for design inspiration. He explained his focus on whole-home design, with great rugs, furniture, accessories and linens coming together for a powerful statement. His presentation showcased product across the AmericasMart home furnishings merchandise mix, including the Area Rug Center, which houses 350,000 square feet of product from the most important names in the area rug business.

Wade designed and decorated five stunning rooms including a dining room, bedroom/nursery and garden room to illustrate the beauty and versatility of area rugs and how area rugs can set the entire design concept for a room. On Saturday, July 16, he escorted a large group of retailers and designers through the AmericasMart campus to teach them about AmericasMart’s unmatched variety of rug, furniture and home accents product lines to meet any design need.

In this class, you’ll learn pricing tactics and strategies for area rugs that increase profits and are easy as one, two, three! Fried has more than enough experience – 25 years to be exact – to be considered a “business guru.” His knowledge in the financial and retail sectors are sure to give you the right advice you need to maximize your profits.

DEMYSTIFYING AREA RUGS

Do you know the difference between a handmade rug and one that is machine made? Can you tell the difference between an Oushak and a Kilim? How do you know how if the price is right on your area rug? Think of this session as an “area rug 101” class. AmericasMart will provide you with all the info, including proper content, terminology and pricing structures. This panel discussion, made up of four of the world’s biggest area rug manufacturers, will ease your mind as you glide into area rug professionalism.

DESIGN SHOWCASE TOUR WITH CHIP WADE

LOCATION: BUILDING 1, FLOOR 1, LOBBY VIGNETTE

For those who are crazy about HGTV, we’ve got the right tour guide for you! Chip Wade, known as the carpenter on the Atlanta team of Designed to Sell, will lead you through the Home center to preview themed design showcases using area rugs as inspiration. Wade’s passion for design and the execution of large-scale remodels make him the perfect inspiration to show how to set the tone for your entire design concept in any room. Wade will also highlight many Home center showrooms, where you can find rugs, furnishings and accents to polish off the look.

AmericasMart Welcomes World Rug Gallery This January

World Rug Gallery will open its doors for the first time at AmericasMart this January at the Atlanta International Area Rug Market featuring the National Oriental Rug Show. The company has secured a 1,600 sq. ft. showroom on Floor 3 in Building 1.

Three Top Area Rug Exhibitors Recommit to AmericasMart

Three area rug leaders have renewed their leases in Building 1, reaffirming AmericasMart as the premier destination for area rugs. Obeetee Inc, Amici Imports, and Colonial Mills (CMI) have extended their presence in Atlanta with the renewal of their showroom leases, put into effect immediately. Obeetee is located in a 5,400 sq. ft. showroom on floor 5, 5-D-8, in Building 1. Both Amici Imports and Colonial Mills are on floor 6 in Building 1. Amici is a 2,100 sq. ft. space in 6-F-11 and Colonial Mills is in a 1,646 sq. ft. space in 6-E-1.

AmericasMart Recognizes Visual Excellence and Grand Opening, Expansion and Relocation of Showrooms this July

This past week at the July 2010 Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market and Atlanta International Area Rug Market, AmericasMart celebrated the opening, expansion and relocation of 84 permanent showrooms with ribbon cutting ceremonies. Additionally, 33 individual showrooms and 18 temporary booths—including one spectacular Best of Show Booth—were honored with AmericasMart’s coveted Visual Display Award for outstanding visual creativity, use of space, product placement, signage, flooring and lighting.

ACME Studio Celebrates 25th Anniversary at July Market

2010 marks ACME Studio’s 25^th year in business, and they are celebrating here at Market this July. From the start, ACME has been completely immersed in providing products of the highest quality and integrity with the aesthetics of the world’s most recognized designers, architects and artists.

Each year, ACME continues to add to their already impressive roster of designers and celebrates their anniversary with the debut of a new collection: “STILETTO,” For Women by Women. For this collection, ACME took a new feminine approach to filling a void in the market place that no other pen manufacturer has yet considered. They will be debuting this collection and other product in the High Design juried category within the Market Temporaries.

Having worked with names such as Karim Rashid, Campana Brothers, Eames and Michael Graves, owners Adrian Olabuenaga and Lesley Bailey are highly recognized and valued. When asked about his feelings towards ACME and their accomplishment of 25 years, architect Michael Graves says, “For nearly 25 years we’ve enjoyed a spirited collaboration with ACME Studios as a design partner for numerous products. As design leaders, Lesley Bailey and Adrian Olabuenaga are extraordinarily tuned into the popular culture and have provided the design team with countless opportunities to stretch their design vocabulary. We congratulate ACME on their 25 years of inspiring design leadership.”

Even after 25 years, Adrian mentions, “No matter how long we do this, it always feels like we’re just getting started.”

Home Continues to Inspire with New and Newly Expanded Showrooms

As the one year anniversary of the debut of the redesigned floor 14 approaches, Building 1 continues to be the prime destination for HOME. Featuring more design-driven home furnishings and accessories, fine linens, spectacular one-of-a-kind area rugs and the largest collection of holiday, floral and home décor product, AmericasMart and the HOME center continue to inspire retailers and designers. This July, more than 50,000 sq. ft. of new product is expected from the more than 20 companies on the HOME floors opening and/or expanding in Atlanta at the July Market.

Floors 3-6 are four floors of the most magnificent area rug showrooms, showcasing the finest product from around the world. Floors 9-14 continue to be the core Home floors featuring home furnishing, home accessories and fine linens. Floors 16-20—five floors of holiday, floral and home accents—have become a platform for manufacturers and designers to launch innovative ideas, fresh lines and new product and offer special buyer programs exclusively in Atlanta.

Making More Room for More Rugs at July Area Rug Market

The Atlanta International Area Rug Market keeps getting bigger and better. Adding to the already large number of collections, Karastan is expanding and relocating its showroom to 3-A-1,3,5 in Building 1. The new location is now 5,600 square feet, nearly 40 percent larger than its previous showroom, and is set to open at the July Market.

This July AmericasMart welcomes back Concepts International in a permanent showroom located at 3-D-1 Floor 3 in Building 1. With this, Concepts International becomes part of the world’s largest collection of area rugs in one unified location.

Concepts International will be among several others debuting fall lines at Market. The company offers unique and innovative rugs and carpet manufactured in such places as China, India, Nepal and Europe. Concepts International has spent nearly 40 years bringing together the finest constructions and designs in order to create its area rugs.
